The course will consist of 8 weeks of online learning that will teach participants about grant writing and requirements. This course introduces students to the different elements of applying for grants and creates organizational readiness for future grant application. Grant writing is just one element of the process of securing grant awards. The course will detail searching for grants, reading solicitations, writing successful applications, and developing fiscal and operational documents. This course will be tailored to CVI grants and community based public safety strategies.

Introduction to Grant Writing

Sessions will be offered multiple times throughout the year. The course is 8 weeks long, 1-hour virtual session per week. Each session will cover all the below topics:

  1. Develop an understanding of how to research potential grant opportunities.
  2. Develop an understanding of how to read requirements for grant funding opportunities.
  3. Develop an understanding of the elements of writing a successful grant application.
  4. Develop an understanding of how to write a budget for grants.
  5. Develop an understanding of how to fiscally manage a grant.
  6. Develop an understanding of how to create operational reporting documents of a grant.
  7. Develop documentation and resources for becoming eligible to apply for grants.
  8. Create developed grant application elements
