Inner City Visions

Inner City Visions (ICV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007 in the epicenter of South Los Angeles. We engage what is statistically the most vulnerable population of at-risk and exploited youth and provide solutions to their ever-evolving hardships. Combating human trafficking in Florence-Firestone involves taking high-level risks and addressing the deeply ingrained dysfunctions of a generationally disadvantaged and gang-influenced community. ICV is the only NGO in the area that is built on a history of long-standing community relationships and has an in-depth understanding of how youth become vulnerable to exploitation and recruitment into the commercial sex trade. Inner City Visions is committed to serving the neediest and most vulnerable with excellence. We respect the inherent dignity and worth of every person and remain hopeful that every opportunity can make a difference in people’s lives.

Sessions will be offered multiple times throughout the year.

Instructor: Alfred Lomas

Raised in South Central Los Angeles, California, Alfred Lomas has achieved a level of success few would have expected. Coming from one of the worst neighborhoods in Los Angeles he managed to escape the poverty, drugs, gangs, and violence familiar to all who watch the evening news. As a former gang leader, he has a unique skill set and experience for engaging youth and community leaders in the reduction of gang violence. Lomas has been instrumental in the transformation of the Florence Firestone community as the founder of Inner City Visions(ICV) a 501c3 community-based organization located in the epicenter of South Los Angeles. ICV has successfully rehabilitated thousands of young men and women in some of the city’s most violent neighborhoods, reconnecting them to their communities through mentoring, education, training and employment. His work as a specialist in youth development, gang violence intervention, and prevention brings a high degree of notoriety and acclaim to the organization. As a certified gang interventionist and peace negotiator, Lomas has fifteen (25+) plus years’ experience. His commitment, experience, and methodology offer hope for positive change in marginalized and dangerous communities plagued with violence.
